The technology industry is undergoing rapid expansion, fueled in large part by advancements in artificial intelligence.

This course is for corporate development leaders and CEOs thinking about M&A strategy in the tech sector — especially those navigating AI-driven market shifts. If you're trying to understand how to identify the right acquisition targets, frame a deal thesis in a rapidly changing landscape, or think about technology M&A from the perspective of someone who's been acquired and done the acquiring, Steve brings the operator's perspective that most deal sourcing frameworks miss.

Steve Lucas is the CEO of Boomi, an integration platform-as-a-service (iPaaS) company that connects applications, data, and devices across enterprise environments. A three-time CEO with nearly 30 years in enterprise software, Steve has sat on both sides of the M&A table throughout his career — first as part of companies that were acquired (Seagate Software → Crystal Decisions → Business Objects → SAP), then as an acquirer, completing roughly a dozen deals across his time leading companies including Marketo (acquired by Adobe) and iSIMS. His experience spans Salesforce, SAP, and Business Objects, giving him a rare vantage point on how AI and integration technology are reshaping how companies source, evaluate, and execute deals.
The Intelligence Hub is where M&A practitioners access Buyer-Led M&A™ playbooks, frameworks, templates, and real-world insights from experienced deal leaders. Courses are taught by practitioners who've run deals — not academics or advisors. Topics include integration planning, due diligence, deal sourcing, valuation, and more.
The Intelligence Hub is available 24/7 through your M&A Science membership. Access them on-demand at your pace, on any device.
It depends on where you are in your M&A journey. If you're building foundational knowledge, start with the M&A Fundamentals Track — five courses covering the full deal lifecycle from sourcing through integration. If you're already running deals and want to build a repeatable, scalable process, explore the Buyer-Led M&A™ Certification. New courses are added regularly as we deepen the curriculum.
